Apothecary Supreme Issue 2, Page 16 & 17 – Back from the backlog

March 15, 2022

Discovered some comments that show Apothecary Supreme still has some readership and folks wanting more (incredibly!). To those people I say; thanks for making it clear you miss it and sorry to keep you leave you hanging.

I’ve been gone a long time but keeping busy on other fronts with animation and comissions for the past few years. It sucks that this all ground to a halt back in 2019 but the good news is that I did have two pages in the backlog I somehow never posted (below).

I’d like to do more, but I’m wary about making promises while I still have stuff on my plate. That said, I can forsee an opening in the relatively near future and was wondering what I might occupy the time with. Finishing this story could potentially be a fun thing to do, especially when so much was already finished.

My style may well have evolved a bit and it’d take some time to get back into the right headspace (I need to reread my old scripts and story plans for one) but heck, why not? We’ll see.

For anyone wanting to find the rest of the comic, it’s all here: http://apothecarysupreme.thecomicseries.com/comics/53/#content-start

Late, late, late as usual – so I’ll spare the chatter and try to get some actual momentum behind these updates.

This page is an odd one for a number of reasons; I somehow ended up landing a fart joke alongside a deeply unpleasant revelation about Burkhard.

Additionally, this is also the first fully digital page I’ve uploaded. I went with the change as I felt it hasn’t really affected the general style, rather just making the art sharper and speeding up production. I’ll be interested to hear other people’s thoughts on this mind…

Continuing with a spot of silliness to break things up a bit :P

It’s been a long time… Scratch that, it’s been a ridiculously long time, but I don’t really want to waffle about the details. Instead, I’d rather just get back to posting comic updates for Apothecary Supreme on a semi-regular basis.

In summary, I’ve been going through a professional transition which recently cumulated in me changing jobs from a fairly rote 9-to-5 over to a more flexible arrangement. The main positive of this is that I should have substantially more time to finish comic stuff and get more serious about this.

Fortunately, I do have a few pages ready which I worked on – slowly – and have held back until I could properly commit again. So here goes.

I’ve also transitioned to digital as my Wacom has quickly become a major part of my working life.

After much indecision I realised that using the tools at my disposal fully was the best way to speed things along without compromising results. More on this when I upload the transition page in question, hopefully it won’t be too jarring!

More next Sunday anyhow :)
